Originally Pete based dragon on a short story by S.S. field and Seton I. Miller. The story of the orphan and his dragon however achieved fame through the film adaptation of Elliot, the smile monster from 1977. Director Don Chaffey integrated the magic, partially invisible Dragon in a cartoon animation in the real movie.
Consist of the largest differences between original and remake, that the story for the current audience has been renewed and that the remake generated one computer Dragon (from the LOTR effects company WETA digital) used where in the 1977 film yet classic animation was used. Also it was original, unlike the new edition of Pete’s Dragon, a musical with no less than 12 songs.
Director David (The Saints) turned his remake of the children’s film in New Zealand and worked together even the screenplay of re-boots again commissioned by Disney with Toby Halbrooks.
